Bata India is the largest retailer and leading manufacturer of footwear in India and is a part of the Bata Shoe Organisation. Incorporated as Bata Shoe Company Private Limited in 1931, the company went public in 1973 when it changed its name to Bata India Limited. It was also the first manufacturing facility in the Indian shoe industry to receive the ISO: 9001 certification. Bata sells over 45 million pairs of footwear every year and serves over 120,000 customers every day. The company operates five manufacturing facilities in India.
Marketing initiative
The year 2010 saw the launch of “Bata Home Delivery Service” in India. With this new service, Bata stores can now meet all customers’ requirements by placing orders on the Central Customer Service Helpline number. The order would be placed on behalf of the customer and the central customer service team will ensure that the product is delivered at the customer’s chosen delivery address, anywhere in India. Bata India also launched a dedicated call centre for better customer response.
New design
All the new stores are in large format, with an average size of around 5,000 sq ft. They are designed by a specialist team of retail designers from Italy in collaboration with in-house dedicated team of architects.

During the year we have opened a record 105 stores, each with an area of more than 3000 square feet. With separate defined sections, offering hundreds of designs, for men, ladies, children and youth, the new Bata stores offer a whole new experience to consumers.
