The luxury bag maker Furla has signed a five-year licensing agreement with Morellato Group to roll out a plush range of timepieces to its already existing bouquet of hand bags. As per the agreement, Morellato will be overseeing both the creative side and the production of the new watch line.
Speaking of the new partnership, Massimo Carraro - the CEO and president of Morellato Group pointed, "Furla's huge potentiality in the fashion sector will enable us to take another important step in developing and consolidating our mission: To interpret in the watch industry the leading Italian brands with affirmed global reputations."
Furla is expected to put in a variety of bold designs and colorways to the new watch collections. The timepieces will be distributed and sold throughout all Furla boutiques, select watch and jewelry stores and select department stores.
The licensing agreement with Morellato Group also comes on the heels of Furla's recent partnership with silk manufacturer Ratti. Furla announced the partnership last November, with plans to introduce an exclusive textile and accessory collection.
In keeping with the brand's plans for global expansion, Furla CEO Eraldo Poletto attested to the importance of integrating a watch category into Furla's product offerings.
"Building a reputation in the watch area is a priority for Furla as the company thrives to implement its lifestyle appeal with new categories that reflect our codes," stated Poletto in a press release. "For this reason, we have chosen a dynamic and leading partner that fully understands and respects our aesthetic, heritage and ambitions to innovate."
The new line of watches is expected to hit Furla stores and select retailers for the fall/winter 2016/2017 season.
