Framing its opulence and grandeur, luxury fashion label Valentino has extended its brand to eyewear segment as it signs licensing agreement with celebrated eyewear manufacturer Luxottica.
The 10-year licensing agreement will cover all design, manufacturing and distribution of Valentino's eyewear collections. The luxury fashion brand's licensing agreement with the Italian eyewear company will go into effect January of 2017, with the first collection debuting early next year.
Valentino was previously under contract with Marchon, another eyewear company that produced and distributed all of the brand's eyewear. In words of Stefano Sassi, Chief Executive Officer, Valentino SpA, “The agreement with Luxottica has a strategic value in the growth process of the brand."
"I believe that Luxottica is the ideal partner to develop a project of great quality and consistent with our brand values in high-end eyewear where we aim to replicate the success of our key product categories, including apparel and accessories," Sassi added.
Luxottica Group, one of the world's largest eyewear titans, boasts a roster of proprietary brands like Oakley and Ray-Ban, and licenses numerous luxury fashion brands for eyewear including Burberry, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana and Michael Kors, to name a few.
Luxottica chairman Leonardo Del Vecchio said of the new Valentino partnership, "We share more than 50 years of tradition, style, innovation and love for our products that represent the highest expression of Made in Italy. Together we will create unique collections to express the wonder of Valentino's style in eyewear throughout the world, and we will write a new history of great success."
Valentino's debut eyewear collection under the new Luxottica license is set to hit the market at the beginning of 2017.
