Well known footwear major, Bata India reported a rise of 27.53 per cent in net profit at Rs 44.56 crore for the third quarter that ended December 31, 2015-16. Interestingly the company had posted a net profit of Rs 34.94 crore during the same period of last fiscal, 2014-15.
Compared with Rs 536.72 crore in the same period a year ago, Net sales rose to Rs 617.22 crore for the third quarter, up 15 per cent.
Rajeev Gopalakrishnan, Group Managing Director, South Asia, Bata India said that their third quarter performance for the period Oct-Dec 2015 has seen a growth of 15 per cent when compared to the same period last year. Bata will be expanding their product offering. Bata continues to strengthen its Ecommerce business to reach out to a larger consumer base. To add further he said that prime focus is now put on enhancing customer's shopping experience within the store and the same is done through an aggressive training programme for the sales staff.
Bata has over 1,254 shoe stores located in more than 500 cities across India with 1,108 Bata stores, 105 Hush Puppies and 41 Footin stores. The brand shares closed at 1.98 per cent up at Rs 491.15 apiece on BSE.
