Amazon India, one of the largest online stores in the country, is upbeat about India, announcing plans to increase its footprint and capacity in Gujarat.
The Amazon platform already has around 17,000 sellers from Gujarat. Rohit Kulkarni, Senior Manager-New Initiatives, Amazon India said that now they want to expand capacity and footprint in the state. Most sellers from the state belong to apparel, home, electronics, wireless devices and kitchen products categories.
Amazon has opened second warehouse in the state and has more plans including launching of Service Providers Network (ASPN) in other cities apart from the existing ones in Ahmedabad and Surat.
The ASPN is in addition to the company’s two other seller empowering drives - Amazon Trained E commerce Specialist (ATES) and Seller University. All three services are aimed to empower sellers who are not net-savvy or constrained by time and expertise to start or manage their online sales channel. The plan is also to tap non-metro cities and small and medium businesses, since almost half of its revenues are driven from such cities. Amazon.in has also seen 60 per cent of their Indian sellers getting business through mobile phones
