Amazon defeats Flipkart to become the most visited eCommerce site

Amazon has put out some numbers showing that it has now become the most visited online marketplace in India leaving behind its immediate rivals such as Flipkart, Snapdeal and Jabong.

Earlier today, the global eCommerce giant Amazon has put out some numbers showing that it has now become the most popular and the most visited online marketplace in India leaving behind its immediate rivals such as Flipkart, Snapdeal and Jabong. Celebrating the occasion, Amazon has announced to give away a gift voucher of Rs 200 to every buyer who buys products worth Rs 500 and above today.
Comment on the same, Jeff Bezos, Founder & CEO, Amazon India said, “We have built a vibrant marketplace with tens of thousands of sellers offering everyday low prices on India’s largest selection of over 30-Million products and bringing alive our promise to the customers. We will keep growing our investments in India and continue to work hard for our Indian sellers and customers.”
Bezos shared an open letter where he mentioned that Amazon has become the most visited site in India in mere two and half years of operations.
According to one of the recent reports by research firm Boston Consulting Group, the eCommerce industry in India is poised to touch $60-70 billion by the end of 2019 from $17 billion in 2014.
Amazon.in topped the comScore list with a cumulative visit of 200-Million while its arch rival Flipkart attracted a lesser 164 million visitors. Amazon also seems to have achieved the largest growth rate in visitors from the mere 85-Million in October 2014 to 200-Million in October 2015.
Last year, the online marketplace announced an investment of around $2 billion to strengthen its operations in India and will aggressively pump further investment in country which is amongst the key markets across the globe.
