As the festive season is around the corner, Indian market is getting boost up to increase its inventory to cater the demands of the Indian shoppers. Waling on the same path, Amazon India has also decided to cash in on the festive shopping by deploying enormous amount in six new fulfillment centers.
The company has gone on board by augmenting its storage capacity to 5.5 million sq/ft for sellers on the marketplace who will use the centers by Amazon service. As per the claims made by the company, more than 80 per cent of its sellers utilise its fulfillment service.
Sharing his views on the development, Akhil Saxena, Vice President, India Customer Fulfilment, Amazon India said that the company will remain committed to investing in its fulfilment and logistics capability to enable and empower sellers to serve customers nationally at lower costs.
The new centers will be located in cities such as Chennai, Coimbatore, Delhi, Jaipur and Mumbai. With this, Amazon marks its presence in 10 states of the country. Since it launched its Indian operations in 2013, Amazon India has committed investments of about US $5 billion to build different capabilities and take on rivals in a fast-growing market.
