Mobile payment turned eCommerce marketplace, Paytm, has recently joined forces with the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to enable users with a service where fares can be automatically deducted from their Paytm balance, instead of recharging their metro cards time and again.
"We are looking at innovative ways to promote the Paytm brand and advertising on the back of the Delhi Metro travel card is one of those tools," said Shankar Nath, Senior VP, Paytm.
As per Paytm, currently the tie-up with DMRC is under process and the announcement to this development will be made soon.
For Delhi commuters, Paytm has launched an app called Offer World which is currently available for android users and will soon be available for Windows and iOS users.
According to Nath, if you put anything on that card, you have ensured that on an average, the person is going to look at it twice a week. A card stays with the person for about six months on an average, he stressed.
Noida-based Paytm rolled out the travel card marketing initiative in February, with branding to be done on 1 million cards, he added.
Nath said only that the cost of advertising on the Delhi Metro travel card is reasonable and it is a cost-effective way to reach out to the masses and promote the brand.
Paytm is currently in a similar kind of partnership with Mumbai metro and travelers can recharge their metro card using Paytm website and mobile app.
