The Parliament of India was, on Friday, informed about CCI receiving complaints against e-tailers involved in unfair trade practices through online schemes and offers, according to a PTI report.

Commenting on the issue, Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, told PTI: “The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has received information alleging anti-competitive conduct in respect of certain online retailers.”

Offlate, CCI had received a complaint against Flipkart for its ‘Big billion day’ sale, as well as for Snapdeal and Amazon which offered huge discounts.

Among others, traders body CAIT had demanded the Commerce and Industry Ministry take steps to monitor and regulate online businesses.

Besides, the Confederation of All India Traders had observed the business model and trade practices of online companies to understand how they are offering huge discounts in the festive season.
