Home-grown eCommerce major Flipkart has recently roped in Micromax CTO Ashish Agrawal as the Senior Vice President- Engineering as the company is now looking to revamp its tech leadership squad.
Agrawal is likely to join Flipkart this month and will be the in-charge of company’s engineering wing for a better shopping experience. Before this, Agarwal was leading Micromax’s tech initiatives and formulating its software services.
Prior to Micromax, Agrawal was an Amazon exec and had spearheaded Amazon’s technology and development for payment services. In his stint of 5 years with Amazon, he has also led special projects related to payments solutions focused on monetisation of digital goods and media.
He also looked after the Amazon's mobile commerce apps for about two and half years and led the development and launch of its eCommerce web services.
Flipkart is undergoing a massive restructure in its tech leadership team. Peeyush Ranjan who was the engineering head has been moved to the role of Group Technology Officer while Hari Vasudev, the engineering SVP will now head the tech function for its critical marketplace and Ekart businesses.
Vasudev will report to CEO Binny Bansal and eKart head Saikiran Krishnamurthy.
Flipkart has made many changes in its top management. Around seven top executives have quit the company in the past one year, of which three were in the last four months.
This includes chief product officer Punit Soni in April, commerce platform head Mukesh Bansal and chief business officer Ankit Nagori in February, CTO Amod Malviya in July last year and Chief People Officer Mekin Maheshwari in September last year.
In January, Flipkart reshuffled its top management to elevate co-founder Binny Bansal as the CEO, while the other co-founder Sachin Bansal was elevated to the role of executive chairman.
