In a spree of making its products available to online consumers, Rajasthan State Handloom Development Corporation (RHDC) has initiated talks with leading online marketplaces of the country such as Flipkart and Amazon. If the deal goes through, the products handcrafted by the state artisans will hit the online road soon.
Informing further, Shuchi Sharma, MD, RHDC told that department is in discussion with Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal so that its market becomes more widespread. However, she commented further that the talks are still on initial stage and final the deal is yet to be carved.
Currently, RHDC operates from 15 stores in Rajasthan and from one installed in Ahmedabad, the department is on the move to expand its PAN India presence by opening more stores with the help of the government. RHDC is not only involved in selling the handcrafted products but it has given a new ray of hope to the artisans by providing them access to capital, technology and markets.
RHDC revealed the information during the five day festival called 'Colours of Rajasthan'. The event which started yesterday is organized by RHDC with the help of Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Government of India, and in association with FICCI. It showcases an exclusive collection of handloom products inventively carved by the artisans of Rajasthan.
