Snapdeal to deliver more products in its 4 hours delivery service

The company claims to have improved on its delivery time by 70 percent over the last year and now plans to expand its scope of 4-hours delivery mechanism beyond some select phones.

Domestic eCommerce player Snapdeal, which is among the few eRetailers that provide assured delivery of certain mobile phones to customers within four hours of placing an order has went ahead to include other range of products into this delivery mechanism. The company claims to have improved on its delivery time by 70 percent over the last year and now plans to expand its scope of 4-hours delivery mechanism beyond some select phones.

A spokesperson from Snapdeal said that the company has witnessed 40% traction in 'next day' and 'same day' assured deliveries in the last six months for mobile phones and fast-moving consumer goods. Nearly 99% of orders placed on Snapdeal platform are dispatched on the same day, he added.

The Gurgaon-based ecommerce firm, which invested around $200 million in its supply chain and logistics in 2015 and has a warehouse space of 2 million sq ft, now fulfils 70% of its orders through its own warehouses compared to just 7% in January 2015.

With an intention to deliver products faster, Snapdeal is currently running a pilot on hyper local model through its omni-channel platform Janus. Snapdeal’s team size has been increased five-fold in less than a year to over 1,000 executives across core supply chain functions, seller experience, business intelligence and risk management.
