International stationery brand Staples has launched its online store for SMEs and consumers in India. The company deals in business collateral supplies and consumables. Staples’ Indian portal was focused on large enterprises only till now and they did not serve small and mid-level businesses.
As per its B2B model, the company mainly appears to be focused on corporate sales and plans to acquire over 10,000 businesses across Mumbai within three months. After Mumbai, the company also has plans to expand in Bengaluru and Delhi NCR.
As per Sailesh Karwa, Founder & CO-CEO, Staples, the company has registered with over 100 mid-sized businesses in the first hour today, and is assuming over 1000 businesses in this week alone in Mumbai and trade with them.
Staples aims at a bigger picture as they want to acquire over 10 lakh businesses-pan India. Not just sticking to the niche model, the company is also planning to include a variety of products in corporate gifting, pantry, furnishing, tech accessories etc and all to be available online.
Other eCommerce companies like Amazon, Zoffio.com, offineeds.com etc. also deal in stationary items.
