The Big Billion Days Sale

Flipkart, India’s largest online marketplace has yet again stepped into trouble. The second edition of The Big Billion Days Sale, which began on 13th Oct, got off to a bad start as its app crashed midnight. The online retailer expected a 10X rise in customer traffic this sale season but the app seems to be struggling to cope up with the larger number of users.
Last year, during the Big Billion Day sale, Flipkart faced flak from its consumers for both technical glitches and price discrepancies. Keeping that in mind, the e-commerce company promised a hassle-free experience this year, expanding its delivery operations staffers to 16,000 and fulfillment centres from 13 to 17.
The Flipkart and Myntra Big Billion Days sale this year is an app-only sale, which means users need to download the app, to avail the discounts available to them. Sadly, the app crashing at the beginning of the sale itself didn't go down well with the consumers.
Recently Amazon.in has claimed its “Great Indian Festival Sale” which started along with Flipkart’s Big Billion Days to be a big success. The company said it was the biggest day in the history of Amazon.in with almost double traction than the previous bigger day and four times than the peak of last diwali. Amazon has served their customers without technical glitches. This again seems to be a tough one for Flipkart, however it still has 4 days left to get things back on track.
