Prior to working with Britannia, Hemant Rupani, a FMS, Delhi graduate has had stints with Vodafone India and PepsiCo.
Mondelez India Foods has appointed Hemant Rupani as Director of Sales, India. Rupani, heading the sales function for Britannia industries’ breads division is now Asia Pacific leadership team of Mondelez. Rupani’s appointment could be a strategic move by the company that is looking to bite into and grab a larger pie share of the biscuits industry that is projected to touch Rs. 26,303 crore in the next two years.
Mondelez India, which in India competes with Britannia Industries Ltd, ITC and Parle Products Ltd, entered the market five years ago with its star biscuit brand Oreo, launched under the brand name Cadbury India Ltd.
“It is well known that our sales, distribution and execution capabilities have played a pivotal role in our leadership position and rich history in India. We are now poised at an important inflexion of creating the route to market of the future and driving growth in a multi-category business context. To this end, Hemant brings a wealth of knowledge in sales and marketing operations and strategy,” Chandramouli Venkatesan, managing director, Mondelez India, said in a statement.
Prior to Britannia, Rupani worked with Vodafone India, PepsiCo India Holdings and Infosys.
