In a recent newsflash, Flipkart’s Head of seller marketplace, Manish Maheshwari has quit the organisation to join Web18 as the Chief Executive Officer.

Here Maheshwari will be responsible for Network18’s digital and eCommerce wings that include websites like Moneycontrol, IBNLive, FirstPost and will also look after HomeShop18 and BookMyShow, that accounts for about 40 percent of company’s total stake.

Maheshwari's immediate priorities will be to drive content, monetisation, new business, inorganic growth, and product portfolio management. Welcoming him onboard, Adil Zainulbhai, Chairman of Network18 Group said Manish brings with him a good mix of Silicon Valley tech product culture and an understanding of ground realities of India. Both these qualities will be crucial towards taking Network18 to the next level of digital transformation.

Maheshwari was the man behind the growth of Flipkart's marketplace by nearly 10 times from 10,000 sellers to over 1,00,000 sellers within a year. This exit comes after Myntra’s Mukesh Bansal and Flipkart’s Ankit Nagori decided to leave the company and are now working together to launch their own fitness brand.
