In his new role, Panwar will evaluate existing operational processes to identify risks and recommend solutions for improving the control environment, according to a press statement released by the company.
He is also expected to play a pivotal role in formulating company's risk management framework to enable repeatable, reproducible, scalable and sustainable operations, the press release said.
"The company is in a phase of hyper growth and with this pace of growth, it is important to ensure maximum efficiencies in our processes to achieve desired scale while maintaining strong focus on corporate governance, which is the bedrock for building a large, scalable and sustainable enterprise," said Kunal Bahl, co-founder and chief executive, Snapdeal.
Apart from heading the Internal Audit division of Max India Limited, Panwar has held senior level positions with Fortis Healthcare and Bharti Airtel.
"While the company has grown at a phenomenal pace, its strong focus on building ethical, efficient and professional processes is commendable. Process excellence and robust corporate governance practices will help us achieve scale and sustain desired business momentum to become a large, successful enterprise," Panwar was quoted as saying in the press release.
Panwar's appointment is the latest in a series of senior executive hires announced by New Delhi-headquartered Snapdeal over the past one year.
In May, the company, which has been undertaking a massive organisational re-jig, brought on board former Cisco and Symantec executive Gaurav Gupta as its vice-president - Engineering.
