Britain's luxury beauty brand Uber has unveiled its first India outlet in Bangalore, offering beauty services and a host of beauty products under the same brand name.
Uber Beauty Products India Pvt Ltd, the master franchisee of parent company Medichem International, will be responsible for the company's India operations and expansion.
 
"Our products in hair and skin care are made of ingredients that are pure and natural, demand for which is boosting in the Indian beauty landscape, said Neha Ahuja, associate director, Uber Beauty Products India Pvt Ltd. "We plan to give Indian customers a wide offerings through our salons services and products from different distributing channels very soon."
 
Uber's salon on Lavelle Road opened last week.The company chose Bangalore to the test the waters before considering other cosmopolitan cities, said Ahuja, who has spent over 10 years as the celebrity cosmetologist for women like Nita Mukesh Ambani, Lara Dutta, Preity Zinta and Gauri Khan.
"Our products are priced 10-15% cheaper than that of Forest Essentials. Once we get the feedback from our latest outlet, we would be opening four-five stores in other metro cities in the near future," Ahuja said, adding that the products will be in the Rs 1,000-3,500 price range.
 
By 2020, the company is planning to open about 600 salons in other metros and tier 1 &2 cities. It is keen to shift to the company-owned franchise operated model after it builds a stronghold in the salon operations through its flagship stores. The minimum investment of the store would be about Rs 70 lakh for a 1,500 sq ft store.
Uber, which is present in 17 other countries, launched operations in Thailand and India simultaneously.
