Bengaluru based RoomsTonite, operated by RoomsTonite eBookings Pvt Ltd, has raised about R10 Cr ($1.5 Mn) in seed round of funding from a clutch of investors.
The round saw participation from Lashit Sanghvi (co-founder, Alchemy Capital), Nikhil Vora (founder, Sixth Sense Ventures), Venkat Vardhan (promoter, DNA Networks), Mohammed Bin Abdul Rehman Al Khalifa (chairman, Caravan Group), Ralph Berezan (Berezan Group of Canada), Vissal Mathew and Balamurali Krishna (IDS Software). The company plans to use the funds towards enhancing its technological infrastructure, improving customer service and sign up more hotels.
Founded in 2014 by Suresh John, RoomsTonite is a mobile app that allows hotel booking facility to last minute travelers in India. The android and IOS app has seen about 200K downloads so far. The company has tied up with nearly 4,000 hotels across 325 locations and charges a commission of about 15-18 per cent on every booking on the app.
The startup lists budget, premium, comfort, luxury hotels as well as home stays and vacation homes too. Apart from adding hotel chains such as Keys Hotel, Ginger, Park, Royal Orchid, and Pride on the platform, it also houses hotel aggregators such as OYO Rooms, ZO Rooms, Treebo Hotels.
Recently, Noida based hotel booking app NightStay, had secured about R3.19 Cr ($500 K) in pre-seed round from BedRock Ventures and angel investors Rajesh Sawhney (GSF) and Shailesh Singh (Partner, SeedFund)
