Freshdesk has acquired raise $50 million (314 crore) in series E round of funding for scaling through existing investor Tiger Global.
Freshdesk, a Chennai and US-based SaaS customer support startup has managed to raise $50 million (314 crore) in series E round of funding. The amount was raised through its existing investor Tiger Global and was partnered by Accel Partners and Google Capital.
The raised funds will be invested in scaling its Freshdesk and Freshservice support platforms. In June 2014, the startup gained $31 million in series D round. The recent fundraise has made the total capital of the firm close to $95 million.
Freshdesk is a SaaS based customer support startup founded in 2010. It provides customer support via mail, phone, website including social networks like Twitter and the Facebook. The company claims to have over 40,000 customers across the globe including some major names like 3M, Honda, Hugo Boss, University of Pennsylvania, The Atlantic and Petronas.
As per Syed Dilawar, President, Freshdesk, the new raised funds can be used in order to hire few more and will also stay focused towards SMBs (small to medium-sized business). They will also use in-bound marketing campaigns to keep costs down.
Founded by Girish Mathrubootham and Shan Krishnasamy, Freshdesk is in direct competition with software development firms like Zendesk and Salesforce. Zendesk had gone for an IPO last year and has a market cap close to $2 billion.
