Germany's Metro Cash & Carry is all set to open its fourth wholesale outlet in Bengaluru, taking the total count to 18 in India.
The new store which would be located at Binnypet area of the city would start its operation by early July, Metro said in a statement to PTI.
Only last month the company had announced its third store in Hyderabad. The two stores would be operational around the same time.
Metro Cash & Carry India Managing Director Rajeev Bakshi said: "We look forward to engaging further with local small and medium-sized businesses who can help us localise our assortments."
In the future, Metro is looking forward to expanding to a network to 50 stores by 2020 in India. It was in 2003 that Metro had entered India, but its third store was opened in December 2013.
Metro currently operates 16 wholesale distribution centres at Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Zirakpur, Amritsar, Vijayawada and Indore.
Globally, Metro Cash & Carry operates in 26 countries with over 750 self-service wholesale stores. The company employs 117,000 people worldwide and in FY 2013-14, the company had a sales of 31 billion Euros.
