New Delhi: Pizza chain Sbarro is in process to launch 20 'New York style pizza' restaurants in north and east India in next two years time, says a PTI report.
The US based restaurant chain had inked master franchise pact with Jyoti International Foods to operate in northern and eastern part of the country. At present, there are 900 Sbarro restaurants in more than 40 countries.
'We plan to open 20 new restaurants by end of 2016 and will be investing up to Rs 30 crore for this,' Akhil Puri, CEO, Jyoti International Foods, told PTI
At present, the pizza chain has two outlets in the country. As a part of its expansion plan, Sbarro is likely to focus on Delhi-NCR region. Punjab and Guajarat will be the areas on focus in second stage.
According to the PTI report, flagship restaurants will be accommodated in around 2,000 sq feet, whereas outlets in malls will have area of 1000-1200 sq feet. Outlets in food courts and kiosks will be covered in 400-600 sq feet.
'We are also offering pizza-by-slice in our restaurants and it is very popular with our customers,' Puri informed PTI.
Sbarro Restaurants is planning to open 40-50 restaurants in next five years, according to an earlier report.
