Simpliearn, an education start-up for professionals seeking IT certifications, has recently raised $ 15 million in series C round funding.This round of funding was led by Mayfield and previous investors Kalaari Capital and Helion Venture partners. The online marketplace was founded in 2009 and it currently claims to have 4000,000 students across the globe. It also educates 15,000 learners per month out of which, 60% are based out of the United StatesAs per Krishna Kumar, CEO, Simplilearn, more of their learners are shifting to mobile and online learning, the current funds will be invested to uplift the platform and also to expand course coverage. The company is also aimed to expand in the US and other primary markets.

Unlike other academic online education portals, Simplilearn is specially made for career-oriented IT professionals who know what they need to learn to step up to the next level. Certifications from Simplilearn are recognised globally by third-party certifications. It offers courses in product management, online marketing, IT service management, big data and cloud computing etc. It has more than 300 courses in total.
Simplilearn is planning to expand its in-person workshops and corporate training programmes. These sessions are led by 2,000 professional instructors to supplement the online courses. Till date, the start-up has raised close to $27 million in capital. Currently, the start-up is based out of New Delhi and competes with the likes of Coursera, HungryMinds and EducationKey.com
