Leading retailer Big Bazaar has come up with Mahabachat offer which has already started from 10 of August and will remain continue till 15th August 2013. During this period customers can avail mega deals and discounts on various items including grocery, fashion, home decore, electronics and fashion. Croma, leading consumer durables and electronics chain, has come up with ‘Croma Independence Sale’ 2013. This is a month long activity during which customers can avail lucrative discounts on various product categories, including phones, camera, computers, entertainment and home appliance. Getting high on food
Food is essence of every Indian festival. A national festival is yet another occasion which receives good turn around, and yet another opportunity for food retailers to cash in on festive mood. Prominent ice-cream and frozen yogurt retailer Gelato Vinto has prepared a tri-colour menu specific to Independence Day. Vijay Arora, Managing Director of Gelato Vinto India, shares, "The reason for this flavour is merely out of spirit of Independence Day and the related shades of the flag which matches the gelato. Also we cannot have exact colours as of national flag because in past such activities practiced in this industry have not been appreciated by legal advisory.”
Yet another food retailer Amsterdam Kitchen & Bar has launched “Veg Lasagna” for the special occasion. CSR Initiative from brand Lush on I-Day
Leading handmade cosmetic brand Lush has launched an initiative in association with NGO Samabhava to urge people to reduce their consumption of animal based products, not only in Cosmetics but also in food, clothing, as well as other uses. Handicraft retailers are too in fray
The prominent handicraft retailer The Vedic Collection is celebrating Independence Day by launching ‘Barni’ collection which includes tea light holder and candle. Divita Kanoria, Chief Wellness Officer, Vedic Collection, states, “On independence day we are giving a portion of our sales proceeds to ASFI and Acid Survivors foundation of India as we strongly believe in fighting injustice.”
