Women are a key customer segment for several product categories, and retailers are wooing them on the occasion of International Women's Day with a range of products and offers.
Fashion and related offers
Soma, a leading manufacturer of authentic block printed textile products, is offering a 10 per cent discount on its entire product range for this day. Similarly, Bracialeto, a jewellery retailer, has introduced a ‘must have’ metallic collection. Manisha Mehta, Head Designer at Bracialeto, said, "Today all the women have merged with each other in their crises to reflect as one. This has inspired me to create a special Metallic Collection that is neutral to every woman, irrespective of their vividness and still sparkle as one."
Meanwhile, Hidesign has introduced its limited edition hand painted bags for this occasion.
However, Pavers England has attempted to take the customer experience to the ‘next’ level by offering complimentary foot massages to women customers in Mumbai, at the leading international spa Aura Thai. A company spokesperson, said, “This promotion would help us expand our customer base.”
Online retailers go aggressive
E-retailers are also attempting to leverage the opportunity on this day via a range of discounts and specially introduced products. For instance, CaratLane is offering discounts varying between 10 -15 per cent depending upon the purchase, while Myntra is offering a flat 30 per cent discount on its entire product range for the day, and Amazon has a specially priced Kindle Paperwhite Wi-Fi version for Rs. 9,999.
In contrast, Bewakoof has launched specially designed T-shirts with ‘bold’ and ‘loud’ comments for women. Prabhkiran Singh, Director and Co-Founder, Bewakoof Brands, said, “We enable our female customer base to wear their ‘attitude’, by allowing them to express their thoughts on our newly launched range.”
Products for women’s safety
Apart from lifestyle-related products, this occasion has also sought to focus greater attention on the security for the ‘fairer’ sex. As part of this strategy, Cadbury India is observing a week long celebration focusing on safety and wellness of its female employees, while e-retailer Junglee is offering a range of safety products like pepper spray and allied products at a discount.
