Raising a toast to Italian Luxury Fashion in the capital recently, Corneliani, an Italian luxury menswear brand, launched its exclusive Summer Spring 2018 Collection at their store in Vasant Kunj, Delhi. In an exclusive with Zarafshan Shiraz, Salesh Grover, Business Head, OSL Luxury Collections Pvt. Ltd, Corneliani, elaborates on the trend dominating this season in luxury wear for men.

As an Italian fashion brand, what opportunities do the makers spot in India?
India is a growing economy and an emerging market. The people are educated and aware of the trends in fashion. The Indian youth seems to be quite conscious about how they look and doesn’t care to spend in order to keep up with the trends. Hence, the Italian brands consider India as an excellent market.

What is currently dictating the beat of a new style?
Talking about my brand, Corneliani is very passionate about being a part of the contemporary lifestyle, with its uniquely tailored, understated but immaculately detailed collection. The brand has partnered with renowned filmmaking duo Vincent and Kristell to create an evocative short fashion film. Aptly titled "Passions", this kaleidoscopic world follows five different men in three cosmopolitan cities, each with a very different lifestyle and passion. We get glimpses of sailing, horse riding, vintage motorcars, golf, and motorcycles. The beautifully curated interviews, evocative imagery, soundbites, city views and soundtrack showcase an emotion that might take on different forms but unites us all in its power. By presenting the collection in such an innovative and emotive way, Corneliani shows exactly how artful fashion can be. This is what is dictating our beat of new styles.

What innovation have you introduced this season?
Weightlessness is the dominant characteristic: garments are airy and constructed in impalpable nylons; fabrics have strong mat weave textures and structures. With distinguishing features in our garments such as elastic leather sides and concealed hoods, each jacket is a match made in tailored heaven.

What is the price range of your products?
Corneliani proposes a complete lifestyle wardrobe. The collection is about getting the right mix of elegance and casual attitude, so we have shirts that are available from 15,000 onwards, jackets - 90,000 onwards, suits - 98,000 onwards, trousers - 15,000 onwards, t-shirts - 9000 onwards, denim - 22,000 onwards and accessories 6,000 onwards.

Through what model are you intending to scale up in India and what are your expansion plans?
We are very open to all opportunities for expansion of the brand and are invariably looking for new and innovative proposals that would help us to strengthen our presence even better. We are evaluating something in the form of good retail space or any other worthy plan that comes across.
