Navin P Kanodia, Director, ST Unicom, shares his expansion plans for his online brand, Just For Clocks. Just For Clocks is an online store, exclusively for clocks.

Being an established brand in the lifestyle industry, how did you reposition your brand?

We have been in the furniture and lifestyle industry for about twenty years. After fifteen years, we decided to take it to the next level with the huge boom in lifestyle industry.

Despite being an established brand in the lifestyle industry, what made you diversify into a different vertical?

We have been in the furniture and lifestyle industry for about two decades, and after fifteen years, we decided to expand our footprint in India by introducing our new lifestyle brand Just for Clocks.

Which business format did you adapt for your brand Just for Clocks?

We earlier thought of progressing through the franchise route. But at present, we are looking for potential business partners, who can understand our passion for business and take it forward.

What is the basic concept behind Just for Clocks?

Just For clock is brand that is very fashionable, quirky, young and interesting. We generally look at time with a very boring perspective and our brand is meant to change that boredom and add life to the time. It’s a compilation of 18 international brands under one roof. 

What are your views on Omni-channel retail?

We have both online as well as offline presence. So, we understand the value of proceeding through Omni-channel. We are geared up for 2015 as the coming year is expected to be a year of e-commerce.

Do you plan to tie up with other e-commerce sites?

We are already retailing through e-commerce websites like Flipkart, Snapdeal and Amazon, Fab Furnish any many more.

What are your expansion plans?

This time around, we have plans to expand our base through malls as we want bring in ‘the mall’ concept. We have online as well as offline presence, but we feel that malls are a destination for experience based purchasin

How do you see the future of retail in India shaping up in the coming years?

The prospects of retail are very high in the coming years. We are moving towards organised retailing. Also, the e-commerce boom will encourage people for intelligent retailing as the consumers are becoming more aware and alert. In the coming years, new entrepreneurs will get space to experiment with their innovative business ideas.
