Indian sensibility growing for Italian fashion and design, says FabrizioBrogi, President NAU

In a bid to cash in on the burgeoning Indian fashion accessories market, leading Italian eyewear brand has recently ventured in India by tying up with TrinityGroup. In an exclusive conversation with Retailer Media, FabrizioBrogi, President and Founder of NAU shares views about his brand.

Tell us something about NAU?

Established in 2005, NAU! is the first Italian brand with its own stores. With a work force of 500 people, the brand has over the passage of time progressed to 90 stores that are located in most sought after cities of Italy and other parts of the world.  With NEW COLLECTIONS EVERY 2 WEEKS ALWAYS IN LIMITED EDTIONS, NAU! aims to offer styles that are trendy while offering a unique shopping experience.

What made you venture into India?

The Indian market is very similar to the Italian market of some year ago, when we started our venture in Italy. The big potential of the market, the Indian sensibility to the Italian fashion and design and the nice feeling we found in Trinity Group brought us up today, and soon to other store openings.

How do you plan to position your brand?

Exactly as in Italy: a smart new and innovative brand based on fashion, colours, design and almost unique products exclusively distributed into its own shops

Tell us about the Gurgaon store, do you have plans to add some more stores?

Absolutely yes, very soon.

Tell us about your price points as India is a price sensitive market?

We say that our prices are "smart prices".  Which means that, for the very first time in India (as it was in Italy at the very beginning of our story), NAU! offers to Clients the opportunity to wear high quality, design and fashion eyewear at a reasonable price.  With NAU! people want more than one pair only. With NAU!, eyewear becomes a real fashion accessory by changing the base for a different look or for occasions: leisure time, office, evening look...... at smart prices.

How do you plan to compete with other brands in the segment?

We are absolutely new, innovative and different and we offer a huge variety of colours, shapes and details.

What are your future plans?

The future plan is to open new shops and develop the NAU! brand awareness through India. At the same time we're developing abroad in other foreign countries.

Do you have plans to foray into eCommerce?

Once we'll reach a reasonable distribution In India we'll think about it. Today is too early to say.
