The fan of Starbucks & Diesel

Professional turned serial entrepreneur, Rahul Singh has been involved with numerous sports and lifestyle brands for the past 20 years. He’s the founder & MD of the innovative concept, Golfworx, which is India’s first and the world’s largest indoor golf club. He is also the founder of The Beer Café, India’s first PYOB (Pour your own beer) chain, which offers a range of 50 different varieties of beer from across 16 countries in the world. The Beer Café has also introduced the Beer Café Radio, the first-of-its-kind radio station that will entertain customers across each Beer Cafés.

Rahul is a gizmo freak, single malt collector, marathon runner and a certified scuba diver. Fortunately, golf and beer are omnipresent in his line of business.

First job: Post my textile engineering in 1992, I joined India’s first readymade garment company called Stencil Apparels as a materials executive.

Retail inspiration: Sam Walton.

If you were not in retail, what would have been your alternate profession?

Working in a textile mill.

Satisfying element of your job: To see the cheer on people when they are having a great experience at our cafes.

Retail firm you admire and why: Starbucks for keeping their brand aspirational yet providing an affordable experience.

Significant day of your career: The day we opened our first cafe.

Best retail experience: To have others talk about the great experience they had with our brand.

Advice to new start outs: Go for a concept which is replicable, scalable and sustainable.
