The domestic retail industry has grown manifold over the past few years, in contrast to its global counterpart and the broad sluggishness in the domestic economy. The key question for industry leaders: what drives this growth? Yes, it is the customer who visits your store and makes purchases, is all-important, and retailers need to ensure that they are strategically focussed on this aspect.  Customer service in India has often not been given its due recognition, and with the opening up of the retail sector to foreign players, it’s important to ensure that a consumer is well served and remains loyal. At Retailer, we sought to recognise brands, both large and small, and across diverse product categories and services, that have gained the trust of their consumers by providing outstanding customer service.

The Retailer Customer Service Awards 2013, first of its kind initiative for the retail industry, was dedicated to recognising the best practises and highlighting companies that have ensured their customer is always satisfied.

A night full of applauds and recognition for customers, was sponsored by DLF Place, Saket, a benchmark for customer service in the sector. The prestigious brands that were a part of the evening included Titan, Raymonds,, HomeShop 18 and Cafe Coffee Day, amongst others.

This event once again highlighted that retailers have to ‘go that extra mile’ in order to ensure the customer is well serviced, and it includes well trained and motivated frontline staff, loyalty programmes, seamless integration of technology and responsive customer feedback.
