Italian premium fashion wear brand Alcott is looking at sourcing its collection from India and plans to open a design and research and development (R&D) centre in the country by 2010 for this purpose. The company, which entered India last year under a franchise agreement with realty player DLF`s retail management arm DLF Brands, is also planning to ramp up retail operations and launch its kidswear collection in the country this year. Though the company might not open its own production facility in India, it is likely to go for outsourcing of the manufacturing process. Alcott, which has opened three exclusive outlets in Delhi NCR, is also ramping up its retail business with plans for opening 20 stores across the country by 2010. Cities like Hyderabad, Mumbai and Chandigarh are on the expansion radar. This year, they will take the total number of stores to 11. Alcott brings out a collection of 330 styles of its ladies collection in every season and around 290 styles in the men`s wear segment.
