Chennai-based Chai Kings gets Rs 2 crore funds

Chennai-based chai retail chain Chai Kings has raised Rs 2 crore funding from the investment firm The Chennai Angels. Founded in 2016, Chai Kings currently operates 8 stores. Commenting about the funding, Chai Kings co-founder Jahabar Sadique, said, “We are happy with having created a niche following for the brand. This investment coming at the right time will further propel the growth of the brand.We will use the funding towards expansion of retail stores and strengthening our service operations.”

With the vision to be the favourite chai place, Chai Kings is expanding rapidly in Chennai with the target of 100 stores in 5 years. Meanwhile, angel investor Piyush Bhandari, said, “Sadique and the other co-founder Balaji have built a strong brand with Chai Kings, which has a great potential to scale given the vast consumption base in the country. We look forward to work with the Chai Kings team and help them scale up their operations. We are excited to partner with Chai Kings and be a part of their growth journey.” 

The co-founders maintained that they are planning to setup more stores at IT parks, malls and even high streets at a faster pace.
