Flipkart Launches Guaranteed 10 days mobile repair services for its customers

Homegrown e-commerce major, Flipkart has announced the first of its kind after-sales service for mobile phones sold on its platform, covering all kinds of damage at Rs 49 a year, addressing one of the top pain points for consumers.

The complete mobile protection programme will offer a pick-and-drop facility with guaranteed problem resolution within a maximum of 10 days, excluding theft. It will begin with Asus phones this week and will expand to all other brands and models within a couple of months.

Ayyappan R, senior director for smartphones at Flipkart, “We have our own service network through F1and Jeeves and we’re integrated with brand service centres as well. The aim is to become the single point of contact for customers since they have bought the phone from us.”

“We have a share of 25% in the overall mobile phone market, including offline, which we want to take to 40% by 2020. Presently, we have a 70% share in the online space,” Ayyappan claimed, citing data from Counterpoint Technology Market Research for the just-ended quarter.

Counterpoint said it was yet to finalise numbers.

With this innovative service move, online platform’s smartphone sales by at least 30%, he said. Smartphones are among the top-selling categories on online retail platforms Flipkart and Amazon, contributing a substantial share to overall revenue. Flipkart acquired F1 Info Solutions last year and had invested in Jeeves, both of which offer repair services for mobile phones and other electronics.
