IDSA elects New Executive Committee

 Yoginder Singh, Vice President - Legal & Corporate Affairs, Amway India Enterprises Pvt. Ltd. was elected for a second-term as the Chairman, Indian Direct Selling Association at the 2011 Annual Meeting held at New Delhi. IDSA is an autonomous and self regulatory body championing the cause of Direct Selling in India. Mr Amarnath Sengupta, Country Head Daehsan Trading will continue as Treasurer and Chavi Hemanth, Secretary General will continue as a non elected member of the board.

Further, Mr. S Subramanian, Finance Director for Oriflame India was elected for the position of Vice Chairman and Mr. P Devadas from K-Link Health was elected for the position of Secretary. The new Executive Committee shall be in force for FY 2011-12.

On the occasion Yoginder Singh, Chairman, IDSA said, “It is indeed an honor to once again serve the industry. In the past year, IDSA has been successful in promoting the cause of Direct Selling through ethical business practices and policy advocacy”.

Mr S Subramanian, Vice Chairman stresses, “Direct Selling offers self-employment opportunities to a large number of people and especially helps in empowering women.  Our focus this year is to make more people benefit from the opportunity that Direct Selling industry offers. Our business has been developed around the Code of Ethics prescribed by IDSA which enables people to conduct business with integrity. This Code enables the member companies to carry out their business activities in an ethical and a fair manner”.

Mr Amarnath Sengupta, Treasurer said that “The Direct Selling is a sector that requires low investments from the Direct Sellers and entails face-to-face selling away from a fixed retail location. Direct Selling also generates indirect employment in manufacturing and supply chain.  Many foreign Direct Selling companies are also considering India as their sourcing hub”.

P Devadas, Secretary, said “To achieve our vision of making Direct Selling the most respected industry in India we have certain missions like to enhance lives by sharing and protecting the Direct Selling opportunity for personal, professional and financial development.  The Direct Selling sector also works on the word of mouth brand building, which is by far the most powerful way of communicating. Although it’s slow, yet once it gains impetus its massive.
