Popular Bangalore-based breakfast restaurant Mavalli Tiffin Room is opening its first chain
restaurant at Singapore. India's High Commissioner to Singapore, T.C. A.Raghavan, will be the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the restaurant that is located at 438, Serangoon Road, opposite the Sri Sininivasaperumal Temple. MTR is best known for its range of mixes for idli, upma, Sambhar, vada, gulab jamun, kheer etc. While other tiffin chains like the Woodlands, Dasaprakash, Udupi Hotels, the Sagar Ratna, Naivedyam, Ananda Bhavan and Sarvana Bhavan, opened their branches all over India and abroad, MTR did not. This is their first branch to be opened ever since their inception in 1924. MTR has enjoyed extreme popularity in Bangalore and the demand for MTR cuisine forced them to prepare packed mixes for the Indian army. Later they decided to market the mixes through retail all over India.
