McDonalds Opens first Standalone Restaurant in Chennai
McDonald`s, the leading food service retailer, has announced the opening of its first standalone restaurant in Chennai. Following a concerted growth strategy, the chain is planning to invest Rs. 30crores to open 10 restaurants by 2010 in the southern states of which 5-7 stores will be set up in Chennai. Located at Anna Nagar, this standalone single level restaurant has a capacity of 115 seats and also has a children`s party area that customers can hire for birthday celebrations and children`s parties. Speaking at the launch, Mr. Ranjit Paliath, Director South, McDonald`s India said “We are thrilled to open our first standalone restaurant in Chennai and present the people of the city a truly global, family dining option that offers a quick, tasty & affordable eating out experience. The McDonald`s restaurant at Anna Nagar will continue to deliver the same quality of food, excellent service and a relaxed ambience that we are renowned for globally.” McDonald`s India with its constant innovation in formats and menu has shown consistent growth in the country. Commenting on McDonald`s expansion plans, Mr. Paliath added, “Our expansion plans focus on the convenience of the customer with the primary aim of serving them what they want, where they want it. McDonald`s is constantly investing in strengthening its supply chain, product development processes and in innovative retail formats to ensure a satisfied customer. The opening of the first standalone McDonald`s restaurant in Chennai is line with its expansion plans in Southern India. We plan to open 10 more restaurants in the Southern region by the end of the year and plan to open 5-7 restaurants in Chennai by 2010.”
