Outer-wear brand Kosha raises seed funding

Kosha, the only homegrown brand that designs clothing layers (thermals, puffer jackets and hardshells) for travel up to -30°C, announces that it has closed a seed round with participation from Tres Monos Capital and Narendra Hiranandani, Founder of Enhira Software.

Kosha was founded in 2017 and is the only company that can dress consumers up, ready to summit Mt. Elbrus (5642ft.) in Russia, in under Rs 10,000. The company makes eco-friendly travel-wear that is perfect for leisure trips in cold European countries and for adventurers summiting the highest peaks in the world. The company’s products have been tested by the Indian Air Force while summiting Mt. Vincent in Antarctica.

Yuktie Jhangiani, Founder & CEO, Kosha, said, “This is just the first step towards creating a one-stop travel platform. Kosha will be a brand that not only designs cutting-edge gear for leisure and adventure travel but also a platform that brings travellers together. Indian consumers have had to pay a very high price to wear outerwear designed for sub-zero temperatures. We’ve customized our offering at one-tenth of the price without compromising quality and keeping all the manufacturing operations in India.”

Sweta Jagirdar, General Partner of Tres Monos Capital, stated, “We are impressed by the transformation that Yuktie has led over the last 3 years, building on a decades-old family business to create a modern, contemporary brand, and offer state-of-the-art outerwear and travel gear to Indian customers. We are excited about partnering with Yuktie and her team as they continue to innovate on new product lines, grow online sales, and expand their retail presence outside of Mumbai.”

Narendra Hiranandani added, “Kosha is creating its own unique niche positioning and brand in an otherwise competitive winter apparel market. I envision the Kosha Brand establishing itself as a market leader in its segment.”

The company has sold over 10,000 thermals and 600 jackets in the last 2 years and hopes to scale its business with the new fund infusion.
