The 2010 edition of India Retail Forum, organised by IMAGES Group at The Renaissance hotel in Mumbai, culminated recently with the announcement of IMAGES Retail Awards – the most eagerly awaited awards of the modern retail industry in India. While a number of retailers emerged winners in different categories, PVR was awarded ‘The most admired retailer of the year award in the Multiplex category’. The other cinemas nominated in the same category were Big Cinemas, INOX, PVR, Fun Multiplex, Cinemax, and Fame Cinemas.
On receiving the award Mr. Pramod Arora, CEO and Group President PVR Ltd said “It’s an extremely proud moment for us at PVR to win this award. At PVR, it is our constant endeavour to be number one in the hearts and minds of people. We strive to provide the PVR experience to the masses; therefore, we have PVR Gold class in tier I and PVR talkies in tier II and tier III cities. We further plan to expand the PVR brand into other aspects of entertainment formats and become an integrated retail and film entertainment company.”
PVR is one of the largest growing entertainment companies in India with 142 screens spread across 18 key cities. PVR is also planning to launch an entertainment city comprising of a 15 screen multiplex with four gold class theatres, a 24-to-28 lane bowling alley, an Olympic size ice skating rink and food courts with restaurants, a microbrewery based Beer Island and food kiosks.
In another event, Asia’s no 1 footwear retailing portal Bigshoebazaar.com again proved its excellence in e-commerce business with the Economic Times Retail Award 2010 in e-retailing category, for demonstrating excellence in footwear retailing through online for the last 2 years.
Participating and receiving the award on this platform is a tough task, there is a jury which consisted of the most credible and eminent members of the Retail Industry and its associated businesses: Sanjeev Aga , MD, Idea Cellular, Sam Ghosh, CEO, and Reliance Capital. Amitabh Chaudhry, MD & CEO, HDFC Standard Life Insurance Saroj Datta, Executive Director, Jet Airways, Ajay Srinivasan, CEO, Aditya Birla Financial Services, Neeraj Swaroop, CEO, Standard Chartered Bank, Partho Das Gupta, Executive Director, Aurora Comms, Dheeraj Gupta, Managing Director, Jumbo King Foods Pvt. Ltd with the support of Retail Association of India and the advisor for the evaluation processes Ernst & Young.
Among 5 contenders in the category, Bigshoebazaar.com’s name was announced for “The Excellence in E-Retailing” category.
