Paytm partners with state traffic police departments to enable traffic challan payments

Digital payment platform, Paytm has enabled payment of traffic challan on its platform. Users can simply log onto the app, tap on 'Traffic Challan', enter their vehicle number and proceed to make the payment after verifying a few other details.

Kiran Vasireddy, Senior Vice President, Paytm, said, "Traffic challan payments in India largely happen at select counters and in cash."

He added, "We are glad to partner with the state traffic police departments to enable challan payments on the go."

The company in a statement said that the service will generate a digital invoice and the customer’s surrendered documents will be dispatched via postal services by the respective police department.

Vasireddy said, "This is a new stride in our vision to add convenience to every payment use-case in the country."

Currently, the service has been launched in Mumbai, Pune and Vijayawada and will be expanded to other cities soon.
