The retail wing of Reliance Industries, Reliance Retail, has appointed Trent CIO, Vikram Idnani as the Senior Vice President and Head-IT.
Idnani had served an 11-year stint as the Head-IT at Trent. He was also the Chief Ethics Counsellor there.
Established in 1998, Trent is the retail arm of the Tata Group. It currently operates Westside, Landmark, and Star Bazaar retail. At Trent, Idnani led SAP implementations at Westside and Landmark and oversaw technology change through supply chain automation, retail store efficiency enhancement and initiatives in e-commerce, mobility, and cloud. He led Westside and Star Bazaar's entry into the open source Linux for their point-of-sale and Loyalty programs in 2008, the first such implementation for any retailer in India.
Aside from being a retail CIO, Idnani has worked as a consultant for TCS, Syntel, and Hi-Tech Consultants.
Idnani has 23 years of global experience, spanning 9 years in the US and the rest of India. Prior to joining Trent in 2006, he consulted for International Retail and Consumer Goods firms including Borders, Home Depot, K-Mart, PepsiCo and interned at JD Williams (UK). He has also worked with Airlines, Finance, Home Building and Healthcare industries.
