Mukesh Ambani-owned Mumbai Indians, the most successful franchise of the Indian Premier League (IPL), has replaced Videocon by Samsung as its lead sponsor for the next three years.
The deal with Samsung is valued at Rs 25 crore per year, according to sources. MI that has won the IPL three times and 100 T20 matches have helped it to drive its brand value.
Indranil Das Blah, COO, Kwan Entertainment and Marketing Solutions said, “MI is one of the top three strongest brands in the IPL and Mumbai being the biggest advertising market, there are multiple factors working for the team. Its on-field performance has been consistent, it is never short on star power and many brands want to be associated with the owners (Ambani). So it is natural for the team to command higher value,”
MI has also roped in Goibibo as the principal sponsor for the jersey. It has signed on DHFL, Jio, and DHFL Pramerica as associate sponsors, and Kingfisher Premier, Usha, Sharp, Tic Tac, Taiwan Excellence, Burger King, Perfomax, Munch, Fever FM and Radio City as official partners.
