Planet Retail, the lifestyle and fashion retailer, is exploring opportunities in the premium kidswear category. The Mumbai based retailer is planning to control a share of 20-25% of the premium kidswear market which is expected to grow up to Rs 500 crore in the next 3 years.
Assessing the acceptance of more premium kidswear, more international brands are ready to foray the domestic market. Currently, the company sells the brands like Oshkosh and Carter’s and plans to launch stores for Next Kids and Nautica Kids soon.
Planet Retail, at present, has 450 outlets and counters in India and is planning to add another 100 by March 2012. These will mostly be exclusive brand outlets and departmental stores.
