Titan to strengthen its presence in Malaysia
Titan Industries,one of the world’s leading watch brands , intends to reinforce its existence in Malaysia and Indonesia by way of its own exclusive outlets. Besides its own boutiques, its products will also be marketed in Malaysia by chief department stores like Parksons, Metro Jaya, Robinsons, Isetan, Tangs and Jusco . Titan currently operates 2 stores in Malaysia; the first one was opened in May ‘08 and the second , in November ‘08. It plans to set up 2 more shops by the conclusion of this pecuniary year. Out of the 25 international department stores Titan operates at present, 10 are in Thailand, 8 in Malaysia, 3 in Vietnam and the remaining 4 in Pakistan. Today, Titan is present in 26 countries through 1700 outlets. It is diffused across the Middle East, South East Asia, and the SAARC countries. It has 3 exclusive boutiques in Thailand, 2 in Malaysia, 2 in Dubai and 2 in Pakistan.Titan sells via its distributors in these locales and a majority of its stores are franchisee outlets. An ideal franchise outlet would be located in a premium mall and would have an area of 500-600 sq feet . “Our plan is to sell close to 1million watches by the end of this financial year,” answered KS Ghai ,General Manager of international business for Titan, when questioned on the kinds of returns Titan anticipated from this endeavour. Titan is also exploring opportunities in South Africa and countries like Turkey and Indonesia.
