MUMBAI:Veteran designer Krishna Mehta will highlight fabrics from Bhagalpur, Benaras and Maheshwar at the ongoing season of Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) here.

The Lakme Fashion Week Winter/Festive show is held here from August 20-24.

"As a designer I want to promote newer markets by highlighting specialities of various regions. This time we will focus on the traditional textiles of Bhagalpur, Benaras and Maheshwar. It will be mix of these regions. It is an endeavour for giving platform to weavers," Mehta told PTI in an interview here.

"Each region has a distinct variety to offer and we thought to amalgamate it. I am trying to open new markets ..Make the fabric from these regions known to all," she said.

Mehta will display her collection tomorrow at the Lakme Fashion Week here.

The collection will include skirts, pants, tunics, kurtas, saris with a twist, and etc. "We will give a modern take to these garments. Also it will be wearable and not that expensive. The colour story will be bright, cheerful," Mehta said.

Mehta revealed there will be a show stopper but was not keen to share more details on it.
