As the new GST regime is set to kick in from July 1, retail major, Walmart India has has started a series of workshops and training programmes for its small and medium-sized (SME) suppliers to help them evaluate their GST compliance levels and prepare for the transition.
Under this initiative, the company is training its suppliers and vendors to comply with the new tax structure under the proposed GST regime.
The company said that it has completed two such programmes in Ludhiana and Hyderabad, which was attended by its 76 supplier partners.
Krish Iyer, President and CEO, Walmart India, said, "At Walmart India, our teams are working diligently to be 100 per cent GST ready in time and we remain committed to help our partners in the whole process for a win-win and smooth transition to the new tax regime."
The company plans to have several such workshops in Delhi, UP and central India over the next few weeks for its partners.
