Wipro Consumer to buy Tura
Wipro Consumer to buy Tura

Three months after it acquired some businesses of Yardley, Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting is in advanced talks to buy another offshoot of UK’s Lornamead group.

Wipro Consumer has emerged as the frontrunner to buy Nigeria-based Tura International.   Skin-care company Tura, which makes medicated and antiseptic soaps, toning and moisturising creams and gels, is a dominant presence in Nigeria with sales of around $50 million. The company was established in 1986 by global personal care company Lornamead, which owns 40-odd brands across 82 countries, and an estimated turnover of around $750 million. The deal size could not be ascertained as talks are still on. The Tura acquisition, if it fructifies, would consolidate Wipro’s presence in an emerging market.
