Ferns N Petals (FNP), India’s largest flower and gifting brand, becomes the first gifting brand in Asia to launch Alexa Skill for ordering gifts through voice-enabled devices powered by Amazon’s ‘Alexa’. The Skill will allow customers to order and send flowers or cakes conveniently by just using their voice.

The brand is anticipating that the business generated through this initiative will touch 10% of the overall online business by the year 2025.

Pawan Gadia, CEO, Online and Retail, Ferns N Petals, said, “We are pleased to be the first player in the gifting industry to roll out Alexa Skill to provide our users easy access and convenient ordering process of the products in flowers and cakes category.”

“We are a 500 crore enterprise as of now and are expecting that the contribution of business generated through Alexa would touch 10% of our overall online business by the year 2025. We, at Ferns N Petals, keep on innovating to woo the heart of our customers by bringing something new every now &then and this tie-up is one of the steps in this direction,” he added.

Ferns N Petals will be launching this Alexa Skill for the customers in UAE by June 2020 and in Singapore by the end of this year.

Since people nowadays are strapped for time and life seems to be going faster & faster, FNP has developed ‘The Ferns N Petals Alexa Skill’ for easy access on all Alexa-enabled devices. Customers can quickly place an order through this Skill for their special someone by just giving voice commands.

In the current Phase 1, Alexa Skills will be launched for existing customers only who already have an account with Ferns N Petals and must have a saved address in their profile. The Skill will also give customers suggestions and options to choose from the best-selling gifts.

Customers can simply enable Alexa Skill for FNP and say, ‘Alexa, open Ferns N Petals’ followed by ‘I’d like to order a cake’. The launch of this feature right before Valentine’s Day gives the brand an edge over the competitors. It would become immensely convenient to order gifts using the Alexa Skill.

The global gifting market is estimated to be $475 billion, and India is expected to emerge as one of the strongest contributors by 2024. A recent research report by Qwikcilver revealed that the country is set to touch $84 billion by 2024 from $65 million at present.
