Flipkart Expands Grocery Services to Pune

Amid Maharashtra lockdown, Flipkart has introduced its grocery services in Pune. The Walmart-owned e-commerce firm claims that it can manage more than 6,000 orders per day.

E-commerce deliveries of only essential goods, including online grocery, are allowed between 7:00 am and 8:00 pm until May 1, as per Maharashtra lockdown rules. Online platforms like Flipkart, Amazon and Reliance JioMart have suspended orders for non-essential products in the state.

Flipkart Grocery provides more than 7,000 products across 200+ categories. Product categories range from daily household supplies, snacks and beverages, and personal care items among others.

Smrithi Ravichandran, Vice President and Head of Grocery at Flipkart, said, “Grocery continues to be one of the fastest-growing categories for us, with the increase in demand for quality food and household supplies.”

“A dedicated grocery fulfilment centre in Pune is expected to boost local employment. The Pune grocery fulfilment centre is spread across an area of nearly 72,000 square feet,” Ravichandran added.
