Mondelez India sales declined in April and May picks up the pace: Global CEO

Mondelez International which owns Cadbury Dairy Milk and Oreo cookies, said revenue in India declined double-digit due to significant lockdowns and store closures in April and May but returned to growth in June with a mid single-digit expansion.

"Will India go back to double-digit growth in the coming months? Maybe not, but if India delivers us a 6%, 7%, 8% topline growth, that's more than enough for us to keep on going on our plan," chief executive officer Dirk Van de Put said on an investor call after the US-based company reported a 2.5% decline in sales globally.

For Mondelez, the Indian business accounts for around $1 billion by revenue, and has been one its fastest-growing markets.
