WhatsApp Makes Shopping Easier, Introduces Carts

Facebook-owned messaging platform, WhatsApp has introduced ‘carts’ feature aimed at making the shopping experience easier for consumers by buying multiple items from a business account.

“WhatsApp is fast becoming a store counter to discuss products and coordinate sales. Catalogs have allowed people to quickly see what’s available and helped businesses organize their chats around particular items. With more and more shopping happening through chats, we want to make buying and selling even easier,” WhatsApp said in a blog post.

With carts, people can browse a catalog, select multiple products and send the order as one message to the business. This will make it simpler for businesses to keep track of order inquiries, manage requests from customers and close sales.

"Catalogs have allowed people to quickly see what’s available and helped businesses organize their chats around particular items. With more and more shopping happening through chats, we want to make buying and selling even easier," WhatsApp noted. 

WhatsApp says that carts will come in handy for users "when messaging businesses that typically sell multiple items at once, like a local restaurant or clothing store."

How To Use Carts:

Users will be able to browse a catalog, select multiple products, and send the order as one message to the business with the new feature. With carts, WhatsApp aims to be simpler for businesses to keep track of order inquiries, manage requests from customers, and close sales. 

WhatsApp users can use carts by simply finding the items they want and then tapping on "add to cart". Once users have decided on their products, they have to send it to the WhatsApp business as a single message.

WoodenStreet has been maintaining a consistent annual growth rate of 60-65 percent in India since its inception. Notably, the company's margins surged by 50 percent compared to the previous fiscal year, and it has managed to maintain a positive EBIDTA of Rs 8 crore, highlighting its operational efficiency.

In an era dominated by digital platforms, WoodenStreet has successfully balanced its online and offline presence. The company has opened more than 45 new stores in the last 12 months.

WoodenStreet has strategically expanded its physical presence over the years, with over 90 Experience Centers throughout India and warehouses and R&D Units covering an extensive area of over 20 lakhs sq ft.

Lokendra Ranawat, CEO of WoodenStreet, stated, "As we set our goals for FY23-24, we're excited to introduce innovations to consolidate our market position further. Our commitment to investing in new stores remains unchanged, and we plan to open 300 stores in the next 24 months. Our growth story in FY22-23 is more than just an economic achievement.
